Sagarmatha National Park
Nepal is a beautiful country with the panoramic Himalayas and beautiful national heritages. Located in the Himalayas of eastern Nepal, it is dominated by the tallest mountain in the world, Mount Everest.
Geographical features of Sagarmatha National Park
The Sagarmatha national park covers an area of around 443 sq. Miles is about 1148 km square. As it lies in the mountainous district of Nepal, Solukhumbu district, it ranges in the elevation of around 9,335 feet to 29029 feet, which is approximately 2845 meters to 8848 meters. Talking about the border, it shares a border with the Qomolangma National Nature Preserve, Tibet, which is an international border. In the east, it shares the border with Makalu Barun National Park and shares the border with the Dudh Koshi river in the south. As it has rugged topology and is made up of massive rocks, glaciers, and deep gorges, it has a variety of wildlife and forests.
When was Sagarmatha national park enlisted in the world heritage list
Sagarmatha National Park was recognized as a World Heritage site by UNESCO in the year 1979. It was recognized as a National Heritage Site in the year 1979.
Vegetation, Wildlife, Flora, and Fauna of Sagarmatha National Park
Talking about the plant and wildlife of the Sagarmatha National Park, it comprises of flora and fauna of various kinds. It contains flora and fauna, which have become the pride of the Himalayas. As the home for many different animals and birds, the national park is protected. The popular vegetations of the national park include birch, blue pines, bamboo, rhododendron, and juniper. These are the vegetations of the lower forested zone and consists of dwarf-sized plants and shrubs. With the increase in altitude, the vegetation varies, and mosses and liches are found. However, at the higher height from above the 6000meters, there are no vegetations or faunas found because of the snow-covered regions. The show line does not favor the growth of plants.
The national park consists of the wildlife of around 118 species of birds. Popular birds found in the Sagarmatha National parks are Blood Pheaasent, red-billed chough, yellow-billed cough, and Himalayan monal. Also, it consists of the rare species of mammas like snow leopard, musk deer, red panda, martens, langur monkeys, Himalayan thars, wolves, and Himalayan black bear. As the temperature decreases with the decrease in altitude and less oxygen are available, there are very fewer species are living in the area. The animals living in the area have thick furs to retain the body heat. Also, some of them have short limbs to prevent the loss of heat from the body. When there is no available in the winter, animals hibernate in the area.
Buffer Zone around the National Park
In the year 2002, the government of Nepal declared Buffer Zone around the park. The main objective of maintaining the buffer zone was to reduce the biotic pressure on the environment. Also, the government has made a provision to contribute around 50% of the revenue of the Sagarmatha National Park for activities to develop Buffer Zone.
The climate of the Sagarmatha National Park
Talking about the climatic condition of the Sagarmatha National Park., the weather here is subtropical. It experiences normal to heavy annual rainfall and snowfall in the winter season. In summer, the climatic condition here is moderate, whereas the winter seems to be extremely cold, and the temperature drops below the freezing point too.

The Sagarmatha National park comprises of Buddhist people with the Tibetan origin. Mostly, Sherpas live here. The sherpas around the region have been living in the area for centuries.
