Dhampus is a small village situated in the Kaski District, Gandaki Zone of northern-central Nepal. With a small population of around 3000 people, it has become a popular tourist destination these days. This gateway to the Australian Base Camp allows you to get a closer view of majestic mountains like; Annapurna, Macchapuchre, and Dhaulagiri. This trekking destination is situated in the north from the Pokhara Valley and is located in the altitude of around 1750m. Trekking to this beautiful village will offer the view of the natural landscape along with the gorgeous golden rice terraces.
The Dhampus Trek is one of the best easy trekking routes of Nepal. As Dhampus is the gateway to the Annapurna Conservation Area, it is one of the main entry points to the Annapurna region. It is the entry point to the famous Annapurna Base Camp. The village of Dhampus ranges from the altitude of 800m in the Base to 1600 in height. As the journey to the Dhampus Trek begins from the Phedi village, which is only about 15 minutes drive from the heaven of Nepal, Pokhara, the trekking route is not so far.
From Dhampus, you can view the beautiful golden rice terraces and the mountain ranges, which extends through the beautiful Annapurna region of Nepal. With the two hours climb to the charming village of Dhampus from Phedi, you will get to explore the beautiful rhododendron forests of Nepal. On the way to Dhampus, you will also get to explore the species of birds while you go through the village of Chandrakot. The way to Dhamopus and the neighboring town consists of Gurung settlements. Dhampus is not a tough trekking trail, and you do not need to prepare yourself while you trek to this region. From the Dhampus region, you can view the beautiful peaks of Nepal like; Mt. Dhaulagiri, Mt. Tukuche, and Mt. Annapurna. You can also view the beautiful and stunning mountain of Nepal, Mt. Macchapuchre from here. The view of Macchapuchre from Dhampus region looks great during the morning sunrise and the evening sunset.
The trek leads you to Australian Base Camp too. As you drive from Pokhara to Kande, you reach to Dhampus from Australian Base Camp. The trek to the Australian Base Camp is 2 hours from the village of Kande. As you arrive at the Australian Bse Camp, you will view the incredible Mt. Annapurna, Mt. Hiunchuli, Mt. Macchapuchre, and Lamjung Himal. The sunrise from the Australian Base Camp is one of the greatest things that you can do here. Then, from the Australian Base, you trek down to the DHmapus Village. The down trek will only take you an hour and gives you the views of the majestic Annapurna Himalayan Range. This is one of the best trekking trails for people who are willing to trek in Nepal.
From Dhampus, you will move forward to Sarangkot, which is the popular viewpoint of Pokhara. Sagarangkot is famous for many adventurous activities like paragliding and zip flying. Sagragkot is also renowned for the view of sunrise and the beautiful Annapurna panorama. This short Annapurna view trekking is one of the best treks of Nepal. Along the route to Sarang Kot, you will discover Annapurna Himalayas within the range of 160 degrees angle from all hill stations. You will also get to walk through the cultivated fields and view of the views Mt. Annapurna.
