Talking about the gateways to the trek, it has multiple gateways. The best and most preferred option is to take a flight to Nepaljung. Then, it would be best if you trekked to Jumla through the Sinja valley. However, if you are a short time trekker, you can fly directly to the Talcha airport in Mugu. From Talcha airport, you can hike to Rara Lake. Another option includes dive to Surkhet. Then, you can connect to Mugu or Jumla from Surkhet. However, the most recommended one if the trek from the Sinja Valley. As you trek through the Sinja valley, you can experience the real identity of Nepal as Sinja valley is the place of origin of the Nepali language, which is locally known as Khas bhasa. Although the trekking route is remote and drought, the trail of trekking is fine. You can view the forest region dominated by juniper, pine, and spruce tree. Also, you will get through the Chuchemara hill, which is at the altitude of 4087 meters and is one of the highest passes of the trek. From Chuchemara, you can view the beautiful lakes along with snow-capped mountains.

The cultural diversity found in the Rara lake is immense. Along with the cultural diversity, the natural beauty and flora and fauna found around the lake can capture your heart. You will see the clearest blue water in the lake. However, the lake can be seen in three different colors in a day. Also, the background of the lake keeps on changing. As it lies in the rural region of Nepal and the path trekking route is harsh compared to other trekking routes found in Nepal, Rara lake is less crowded. For those people who are interested in a trek that provides isolation and deep communication with nature, you should probably try the Rara lake trek. This beautiful lake of Nepal lies in the Rara National Park, which is the home for pine, juniper, spruce, oak, cypress, blue pines, and rhododendron along with alpine meadows. Talking about the animals founds here, you can see musk deer, leopards, Ghoral, Red Panda, Thar, and Himalayan Balck Bear.  Also, it is the home for 200 species of colorful butterflies and birds. Hence, the biodiversity found here is immense.

However, the trek can be relatively difficult for beginners. But, the trekkers of a higher level can encompass it easily. To reach to the Rara lake, you need to make sure that you can hike for around 4 to 6 hours in the rough Hilly terrain. Although the trek does not require any trekking experiences, you need to prepare yourself for the trek. If you are not fond of trekking you can take Rara tour package.

The best month to trek to the Rara national park is during the spring season (September to October) and during the autumn season (March to May).
