Khopra Hill Trek

Trip Description

Introduction to the Trip

If you want to explore the views of the Annapurna region through the less crowded area, you should ultimately try the Khopra Hill Trek. The Khopra Hill trek is popularly known as Khopra Ridge trek and is the best alternative to the Ghorepani trek that takes you to the viewpoints of the Annapurna region. It gives you a closer view of the stunning Himalaya ranges like; Mt. Annapurna and Mt. Dhaulagiri. Also, it is one of the most popular and fewer crowded offbeat treks of the Annapurna region.

Trip Overview

The trip can begin from different points around the Annapurna region. As you go through Birethanti, Phadi or Tatopani anticlockwise and enter to the Annapurna Conversation Area, your official trek will start. Also, you can first hike to the Annapurna Base Camp from Chhomrong and then trek to Khopra. This trekking route will allow you to get the views of the majestic Himalayas. As the trekking trail of the route is narrow and rocky, the trail is less crowded. As it connects to the Annapurna Base Camp, the trek is highly preferred by trekkers who like solitude trekking. The Khopra Danda offers you a glorious view of the 360-degree view of the Annapurna and the Dhaulagiri range.

Proceeding with the trek, you will go through the Muladi peak, which is a popular viewpoint in between the Poon Hill and the Khopra ridge. All you need to do is take 30 mins to walk uphill from Dobato, and you will reach to the top of the viewpoint. The view from this viewpoint is also one of the major attraction sites of the peak.

Although this trekking trail is popular and is adventurous, you will see a relatively less number of tourists compared to other trekking trails of Nepal. Even in the trekking seasons, too, you will rarely see any people walking in this area. So, you will be able to witness the beauty of the wildlife, birds, along with vegetation and green forests of the area more closely.

Also, the number of resting places like tea houses, hotels, and restaurants is relatively lower in number in comparision to the other trekking routes of the Annapurna region. However, you can find tea houses in the way and also on the Khopra Danda as well. You do not even need to worry about the provision of electricity and wifi in the area too. You will be able to explore the unique culture of people living in the area, along with their warm hospitality. Also, it will be an excellent experience to explore their unique foods and culture.

From the Khopra Hill, you can also hike upto Khopra dirge and to khayar danda and Khayar lake. The lake stands above 4600 meters and is a major attraction site in the area. It is a popular Hindu pilgrimage site. During the day of Janai Purnima, the Khopra Lake is crowded as people come here to worship and take a bath.

The major attraction sites from the Khopra danda is the beautiful view of the mountains like Mt. Dhaulagiri, Mt. Annapurna I, Mt. Annapurna II, Annapurna South, Mt. Macchapuchre, Mt. Hiunchul, and Mt. Nilgiri. Also, it will take you to the beautiful lush green forests of Nepal in the Annapurna region. For trekkers who want to explore the beauty of the Annapurna range, this is one of the best alternatives to Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek. As the trekking trail is less crowded, you will be able to explore nature more closely and go through the forests, which give you the views of beautiful rhododendron, bamboo, pine, and oak trees. Also, you will get to see animals like Langupur monkey in the trek.

Time Required and Best Season for the Trek

You will require 12 nights and 13 days' time to complete the trek by walking upto 4-7 hours a day. Talking about the perfect season for the trek, it is best if you trek during the autumn and the spring season. The summer and the winter season might make it difficult for you to trek because the summer in Nepal comes with rain, and the winter is extremely cold in these seasons.

Therefore, you need to choose a right season for the Khopra Hill Trek. Also, you can hire and experienced guide if you want to. Make a wise decision and trek to the trekking trail of Nepal, which offers you solitude as well as the beauty of nature. Choose Khopra Hill trek if you are a trek lover who wishes to explore the beauty of the Himalayas of Nepal.
